Our people

Message from CEO James Kuffner

I am excited and humbled to be given the opportunity to create a new company aimed at developing the world’s best automotive safety and automated driving technology.

TRI-AD will function as a bridge between TRI and TMC, connecting research, development and mass production in a smooth, accelerated pipeline. Thus, it is fitting that our new company will be located in Nihonbashi, the location of an historic bridge over the Nihonbashi River, providing safe and reliable transportation for millions of people every day for centuries. TRI-AD seeks to gather the world's best software engineers into a productive and collaborative work environment.

Our mission is to build the safest and smartest cars on the planet. I believe our effort and hard work will translate directly into saving more lives sooner, while providing mobility for all.

If you are excited about our mission, we would like to hear from you. Let's work as one team to make our shared dreams a reality.

Building the culture of TRI-AD: Human Resources Director

TRI-AD is a place where engineers can really enjoy what they are doing, every day - a place where they can challenge themselves to the full.

This is an organization where each and every one of our engineers has the freedom to try out new things, they have more time to be productive, enabling them to come up with new innovations and rise to new challenges. This is the kind of system that I am in full support of.

There are people from a variety of backgrounds here: different nationalities, gender, and of varying ages. Those with a positive frame of mind are welcome here. Of course, those who are familiar with automated driving vehicles, and those who love cars are especially welcome.

Working as an Administration member

At present my main duties include secretarial duties for our CTO Mr. Koibuchi and preparing his materials when he has lectures away from the company.

When it comes to preparing his presentation materials, along with the main materials, depending on the topic, they will need updating, and adapting depending on the audience. For example, what will the best way to relay information in an easy to understand format, from the listener’s perspective.

I believe automated driving is a technological solution that will help mitigate accidents, traffic jams, and pollution, while at the same time creating more green areas over parking spaces. Technology will continue to be indispensable when it comes to addressing global problems. But, I also know that changing the underlying fabric of these global issues will be no easy task to begin with.

My role, being a part of preparing materials that enable the clear dissemination of information to the world, is something that I am very proud to be a part of, and preparing materials for CTO Mr. Koibuchi is an important part of my job and one that I will continue to endeavor with.
